Community Choice Aggregation (CCA), also known as Municipal Aggregation, is a program whereby a town negotiates with a non-utility source of electricity to obtain a better supply rate and greener sources of power for its residents and municipal accounts, retaining the existing utility as its service provider (so there are no changes to the utility's delivery of electricity).
Community solar is a non-utility source of electricity from a local solar farm outside the community, available on a subscription basis.
Residential solar provides a non-utility source of electricity from roof-mounted or pole-mounted solar panels on residential property.
Town-owned solar provides a non-utility source of electricity from solar panels owned by the town and located on town property. In Shutesbury, that consists of the 2kW roof-mounted solar panels at the Shutesbury Elementary School, the 10 kW ground-mounted solar panels behind Town Hall, and the 15 kW ground-mounted solar panels behind the Fire Department.
