Shutesbury received a Small Municipal Bridge grant from the state for part of the cost of replacing the Locks Pond Culvert. The engineering firm, Nitsch Engineering presented the proposed design for the replacement of the existing Sawmill River culvert beneath Locks Pond Road on Thursday using the zoom.us format. Topics which were discussed include a description of the existing culvert and the need for replacement, a discussion of the hydraulic requirements, a description of the proposed culvert structure and wing walls, a description of the proposed roadway and drainage, improvements to the existing stream bed, easement requirements, and impacts during construction. The session will be open for public questions and comments. A recording of the public information meeting will be posted online.
