Shutesbury Board of Selectmen October 24, 2008 Meeting Minutes Members present: Chairman Rebecca Torres, Ralph Armstrong and Al Springer. Also Present: Town Administrator David C. Dann and Administrative Secretary Leslie Bracebridge. Meeting opened at 7:50 A.M. Topics 1. Becky summarized an email from Senator Stan Rosenberg stating that Stan and Representative Kulik have been in touch with the Governor and his staff concerning funding the dam repairs from the environmental bond bill. A decision from the Governor’s office will not be known before next week. 2. David reported that yesterday afternoon Tro-Con’s insurance agent had sent a copy of an insurance policy. David immediately sent it to MIIA which covers Shutesbury’s insurance for review and received approval from MIIA that this was the needed coverage. 3. At the beginning of this week, Engineer Morris Root had had an extensive conversation with the second lowest bidder, Davenport, Inc. concerning their availability to step into the project if Tro-con had not been able to secure the required $1,000,000 umbrella liability insurance certificate. Morris set a deadline of Friday October 24 for Tro-Con to get the necessary but here-to-fore unobtainable insurance. David has notified Davenport that Tro-Con’s insurance agent had been able to secure insurance. David thanked Davenport for their extensive efforts to step in quickly. Davenport reviewed their original contract and an increased it by $20,000 to address cold weather interventions. 4. The October 23 Conservation Commission hearing authorized the contractor to use equipment on the lake bed and the face side of the dam; a final step for work to begin. Select Board Action Items Selectmen authorized Town Administrator David Dann to call all parties to notify them to go forward with the dam repairs. Meeting adjourned at 8:09 A.M.
