Mission of the Shutesbury Roads Committee

The Shutesbury Roads Committee is a recommending body charged with the following responsibilities:

  • Work with the Board of Selectmen and the Highway Superintendent to assure that the highway budget is appropriate to the needs and resources of the Town
  • Review and coordinate signage on all Town roads
  • Address safety concerns pertaining to Town roadways
  • Assist the Highway Superintendent to review and prioritize roadway maintenance and major projects
  • Receive comments, complaints, and suggestions regarding Town roadways from Shutesbury citizens and follow up with the Highway Superintendent and the Board of Selectmen as necessary
  • Work with other Town committees (e.g. Planning, Conservations, Town Center) to integrate Town roadway needs and concerns with the work of these committees

The Roads Committee, in consultation with the Highway Superintendent, the Town Administrator, and other Town Committees, makes recommendations regarding Town roadways to the Shutesbury Board of Selectmen.

Communication Guidelines

The Shutesbury Roads Committee welcomes members of the community to regular monthly fragrance-free meetings that are now being held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month; 7 pm, at the Shutesbury Town Hall. The current members of this Committee are: Diane Jacoby (Chair), Carole Mizaur (Clerk), Jim Aaron, and Scott LaBonte. We are interested in adding new members to this committee.
