July 01
1200 Traffic Enforcement, Lake Area- Officer monitoring traffic in
Lake Wyola area and State Beach.
1530 Traffic Complaint, Beechwood Lane-Resident reported an unattended
vehicle obstructing traffic. Area checked by officer, unfounded.
1730 Animal Complaint, Rte 202- Resident reporting finding a small dog
on Route 202 near New Salem/Shutesbury line. Reporting party
will keep dog until Town Dog Officer can be contacted.
2115 Noise Complaint, Lake Area- Report of fireworks in Great Pines
area. Responding officer found noise had stopped upon arrival.
2130 Noise Complaint, Pelham Hill Rd-Report of fireworks in the Pelham
Hill/Baker Rd area. Responding officer found discharged
fireworks, no one in area.
July 02
1220 Traffic Stop, Pelham Hill Rd- Citation issued to operator for
speeding.
1230 House Check- At request of resident on vacation, officer
conducted house check. All secure.
1240 Traffic Stop, Lake View Rd- Operator issued warning for speeding.
1800 Citizen Complaint, Lake Wyola- Officer took report regarding
property dispute between neighbors.
1945 Assist Other Department, Shutesbury Rd, Leverett- County dispatch
requested officer to assist with locating lost hikers in the area
of the power lines, no Leverett officer on duty. Responding
officer located hikers and returned them to their vehicle.
July 03
1235 Paperwork Service, Wendell Rd- Officer served restraining order
in hand to resident of Wendell Rd.
1725 Directed Enforcement, Lake Wyola- Officers monitored traffic and
noise from fireworks in the Lake Area.
1825 Noise Complaint, Merrill Dr- Officer responded to complaint of
loud music on Merrill Dr. Gathering with live band was found to
be source of noise. Verbal warning issued to homeowner.
July 04
2020 Traffic Stop, Leverett Rd- Operator issued citation for speeding.
2100 Noise Complaint, Lake Area- Officer responded to a complaint of
fireworks in the Great Pines area. Noise had ceased upon
officers arrival.
July 06
1420 Medical Assist, Leonard Rd- Request to assist Shutesbury EMT’s
with attendee at auction suffering form heat related illness.
July 10
1615 Animal Complaint, Leverett Rd- Resident reported mange or rabid
possum had been in yard for several hours. Responding officer
found State Police on scene. Animal was euthanized.
1910 Info from Other PD- County Dispatch reported that Orange PD had
found ATM card belonging to a Shutesbury resident. Service rendered.
1945 911 Hang Up, Montague Rd- Officer responded to a residence on
Montague Rd for a reported 911 Emergency call hang-up. Officer
spoke with resident who stated one of his children had
accidentally misdialed.
2025 Disabled Motor Vehicle, Elementary School- Owner of disabled
vehicle reported to police that his truck would be parked in the
elementary school parking lot overnight, when he would make
repairs and remove vehicle from property.
July 11
1530 Power Outage, Town Wide- Severe thunderstorms knocked out power
at Pratt Corner sub-station. National Grid aware of problem and
had crews on scene within the hour. Power restored to most of
Town by 1930. Some lake area residents remained without power
due to tornado in Wendell until following morning.
July 14
1600 Restraining Order Violation, Out of Jurisdiction- County Dispatch
reported a violation of "no-contact" order by individual outside
jurisdiction. Report taken from plaintiff, agency in defendant’s
jurisdiction notified.
2100 Noise Complaint, January Hills Rd- Resident reports hearing
possible gun fire in area. Investigation pending.
July 15
1600 Directed Enforcement, Town-wide- Officer conducted directed
traffic enforcement under GHSB Grant funding.
2150 Traffic Stop, Leverett Rd- Operator issued citation for speeding.
2300 Traffic Stop, Old Orchard Rd- Operator issued citation for
speeding.
July 16
1000 Directed Enforcement, Lake Area- Heavy volume of traffic in Lake
area. Officers conducted radar patrols in area of State Beach
and Lake View Rd areas.
1300 Traffic Stop, Leverett Rd- Two citations issued to separate
operators for speeding.
