May 5
1710 Suspicious Activity, Fire Station- Reporting party states that
all lights were on in the Fire Station. Responding officer found
the building secure, nothing missing or damaged.
May 8
1915 Erratic Operation, Lake Wyola- Officer responded to the lake to
investigate a report of two young men operating a power boat in
an erratic manner. Officer found evidence at public boat ramp
that the subjects had left prior to police arrival.
May 10
0840 Erratic Operation, Wendell Road- School bus driver reported that
a motorist has been passing the bus in a no passing area and
driving at a high rate of speed during the morning bus run.
Information on vehicle was forwarded to Registry of Motor
Vehicles for further action.
May 11
1840 Summons Service, Wendell Rd.- Officer served summons to Wendell
Rd resident.
2025 B&E, Larceny Over $250, Locks Pond Rd- Resident on Locks Pond Rd
reported that while family was out of town, someone entered their
home and removed several items valued at over $250.00.
May 12
1940 Medical Assist, Shore Drive- Officer dispatched to Shore Dr. to
assist EMT’s with request for medical attention.
May 13
1620 Assist Motorist, Leverett Rd- Officer assisted motorist who had
run out of gas.
1655 Missing Person, Wendell Rd- Officer responded to Wendell Rd
residence to take a report of a missing child. During interview
with parent, child returned after taking a walk for 30 minutes.
May 15
1205 Motor Vehicle Accident, Leverett Rd- Officer investigated 2 car
motor vehicle accident at intersection of Wendell Rd & Leverett
Rd. Both operators declined medical treatment, one vehicle towed
from scene. No citations issued.
May 16
1035 Motor Vehicle Stop, Leverett Rd- Motorist stopped for speeding,
citation issued.
1045 Disabled Vehicle, Montague Rd- Officer assisted motorist whose
car had slid off roadway. Vehicle towed from ditch by AAA
wrecker.
May 17
1520 Motor Vehicle Complaint, West Pelham Rd- School bus driver
requested to speak with an officer regarding the erratic
operation of a pickup truck which the bus driver had witnessed
while dropping off students.
1645 Vehicle Complaint-Follow-up, Locks Pond Rd- Officer stopped a
green pickup truck based on information provided by bus driver
complaint earlier. The operator of the truck, a Wendell
resident, admitted passing the bus and was issued a citation.
May 19
1500 Directed Enforcement, Cooleyville Rd- Officer conducted radar
patrol under GHSB grant; 6 citations issued.
May 20
0905 Intrusion Alarm, Elementary School- Officer responded to
intrusion alarm at the elementary school. Investigation revealed
that RAD instructors accidentally set off alarm when entering the
building.
1000 Assist Other Police Department, Pelham- Officer assisted Pelham
PD with motor vehicle accident on Route 202.
1205 Intrusion Alarm, Town Hall- Officer responded to Town Hall for a
reported intrusion alarm. Investigation revealed an accidental
activation by Town Hall worker.
May 21
1310 Harassing Calls/ e Mail, W. Pelham Rd- Officer conducted follow
up investigation with resident regarding previous incident.
1340 Fraud, West Pelham Rd- Resident requested to speak with an
officer regarding possible fraud. After ascertaining facts,
officer informed resident that incident should be reported to law
enforcement officials in jurisdiction where alleged crime
occurred.
May 22
2000 Suspicious Activity, West Cemetery- Officer conducting patrol of
West Cemetery found a male and a female camping on the south side
of the cemetery. Both parties were checked for possible warrants
and directed to leave the area.
2100 Medical Assist, Pratt Corner Rd- Officer dispatched to assist SFD
with request for medical response.
May 23
1015 Harassing Phone Calls, W. Pelham Rd- Resident filed report of
harassing phone calls, related to civil tenant/landlord dispute.
May 24
2140 Suspicious Person, Lake View Dr- Officer requested to check on a
male subject loitering in the State Beach parking area. Officer
identified the individual as a resident of Wendell who had left
his parents house after a fight. He was using the pay phone and
then planning to return home.
May 26
1400 Grant Funded Direct Enforcement- Officer conducting radar patrols
under GHSB Grant.
May 27
1115 Animal Complaint, Schoolhouse Rd- Report of a sick raccoon in
caller’s garage. Animal was euthanized by veterinarian in the
area and disposed of by officer.
1415 911 Hang Up, Montague Rd- Dispatch reported 911 hang up call at
Montague residence. Responding officer spoke with babysitter who
stated call was made accidentally by a child in the house.
1515 Disabled Motor Vehicle, Rte 202- Officer assisted motorist with
disabled vehicle near New Salem line until tow company arrived.
May 28
1315 Traffic Stop, Leverett Rd- Motorist stopped for speeding,
citation issued.
1325 Traffic Control, Fire Station- Officer monitoring traffic at Fire
Station during fund drive. Motorist stopped for excessive speed,
citation issued.
1720 Motor Vehicle Stop, Locks Pond Rd- Motorist stopped for speeding,
citation issued.
1745 Motor Vehicle Stop, Lake Dr- Motorist stopped for speeding,
citation issued.
1755 Animal Complaint, Locks Pond Rd- Report of dog impeding traffic
and creating safety hazard in the area of Locks Pond and Lake Dr.
Animal was brought to home of owner’s relative. Dog officer
notified for issuing of citation, violation of Town bylaw.
1815 Info From Other Dept, State Police- State Police, Belchertown
Barracks, advised that an escapee from a medium security
detention facility in Shirley was believed to be in the Montague
Rd area. Officer spoke with relatives of subject and forwarded
information to Greenfield and Montague police departments.
May 30
815 Community Policing, Elementary School- Officer doing community
policing with kindergarten class.
1015 Larceny, Lake View Dr- Resident reported larceny of kayak, last
seen in October of '05. Report taken.
1130 Animal complaint, Leverett Rd- Motorist requested to speak with
an officer regarding hitting a cat on Leverett Rd. Motorist
provided contact information, officer attempted to locate and
contact owner.
May 31
0825 Breaking & Entering, State Beach- Employee at State Beach
reported that the vendor’s trailer at that location had been
broken into overnight. Officer will notify owner of trailer.
Investigation pending.
